I believe Emotional Freedom Technique or “The Tapping” takes over where the 12 Step Programs leave off. I cannot tell you the magical rewards I have received from my 12 years of tapping. So if you want magical rewards from The Tapping energy healing work, then read on!
Over the last 12 years, I have had the great fortune to have had a therapist and a chiropractor, both brilliant healers, simultaneously teach me Emotional Freedom Technique, or “The Tapping,” and explain to me that they had learned this incredibly effective way to permanently clear any feelings, beliefs or patterns that didn’t serve me.

Through the years, I have discovered that an hour and a half of tapping is more effective than 60 years of talk therapy. I ought to know, I did that one for 35 years. I’m not saying my talk therapy wasn’t effective – it was, very! But now that I have been doing the tapping, I have found that no matter what is bothering me, no matter how humanly impossible it feels to be able to shake it, the tapping will always move me through my fear and pain.
When I first help someone with the tapping, I always make sure we do it together, because it is very frightening to bring up and feel painful feelings when you are all alone. It is much easier to do when you have someone there supporting you: It is so much more comforting and reassuring than doing it alone. Get yourself a tapping buddy. Both of you choose your most in-your-face issue, and then alternate tapping for one and then the other on your individual issue. Believe me, even if it isn’t “your” issue, you will move through some intense emotions yourself. Because you are not clearing “emotions,” you are clearing the vibrations of those emotions.
You can, of course, always pay a therapist to guide you through the tapping. But if you can’t afford to pay a therapist, you can find a tapping buddy and follow the instructions below. One of the great things about tapping with a buddy is that you will clear the vibrations of emotions that are not even aware that you have. The universe is a magical guide that way no matter who you are helping or what you are tapping on, there is a reason you are there with that person tapping on what you are tapping on. There is something inside of you of which you are not necessarily aware that needs to be cleared, and this system assists with that.
I will now explain to you how I effectively tap away unwanted emotions, patterns of behavior and habits, which I find extremely effective:
1. Figure Out What to Tap on
Figuring out what to tap on can be as simple as writing down what just came out of your mouth. “I’m so mad right now I could punch a hole in the wall!” Perfect! Go and write down exactly what it is that you just said and then write down whatever you were and are feeling, in extensive detail. This is the beginning of the healing process. First you identify the emotions that are hurting you, and then you clear them with the tapping. If you notice a habit or a pattern of behavior that doesn’t serve you, write that down. Like, “I can’t stop being late all the time.” Or, “Every time I go to an audition, I get so terrified that I become a wet noodle.” There is no wrong answer with the tapping. Go with what feels right to you. Always.
2. Get Comfortable and Close Your Eyes
Go to a place where you have privacy and feel relaxed, and either sit or lie down comfortably and close your eyes.
3. And Begin
A. Soft Spot on the Left Side of Your Chest
Find the soft spot on the left side of your chest where it’s really tender when you push on it. Take your index finger and at a comfortable, moderate tempo, make clockwise circles over the tender spot as you say, “Even though I can’t stop being late all the time, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself.” Do that 5 times, or until you feel the vibrations subside.
B. Tender Spot Above Your Eyebrow
Gently tap with your finger on the spot above your eyebrow and say, “This inability to stop being late all the time.” Tap there until you feel the vibrations of that clearing seep down through your body and clear out.
C. Temple
Gently tap on the side of your eye, on your temple, and say, “This inability to stop being late all the time.” Tap there until you feel the vibrations of that clearing seep down through your body and clear out.
D. Tender Spot Under Your Eye, on Eye Bone
Do the same thing here, and on all the spots described below.
E. Tender Spot on the Top of Your Head
F. Tender Spot on The Top of Your Head
G. Tender Spot Under Your Nose
H. Tender Spot Under Your Bottom Lip
I. Tender Spot in The Middle of Your Chest
J. Tender Spot About 2-1/2″ Below Your Underarm
K. Karate Chop: With the Palms of Your Hands Facing Up,
Tap the Sides of Your Hands Together
Repeat A-K
4. The Second and Third Times Through
The second and third times through on the tapping, you will say the same thing, only on the circle around the soft spot on the side of the chest, say, “Even though I still can’t stop being late all the time, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself. And then starting with the spot above your eye through the remaining tapping points, say, “This remaining inability to stop being late all the time.” Go through all the tapping points twice saying I “still” and this “remaining.”
Most habits and feelings that don’t serve us stem from a wound or wounds that we incurred at some point in our past. It’s always good to clear current emotions that don’t serve us. But we can clear a deeper darkness when we identify the original wound(s) and clear them. For these there are endless possibilities, and you can use your common sense to figure out what past wounds caused what current unpleasing patterns and emotions, and clear them.
For example, “I’m 5 years old, and I hate my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself.”
And, “This hatred of my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time.” And then, “This hatred of my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time.” Twice Through.
Then, “I’m 5 years old, and even though I still hate my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself.” And, “This remaining hatred of my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time.” Twice Through.
Then, “I’m 5 years old, and even though I still hate my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time, I deeply and completely love, accept and forgive myself.” And, “This remaining hatred of my mother for never letting me go out and play with the other kids, causing me to feel angry all the time.” Twice Through.
Sometimes it will be necessary to tap for more than one session on a particular issue in order to clear it completely, but the more you tap on it, the better you will feel with regards to it.
A skilled tapping practitioner can use Applied Kinesiology to find out what wound(s) from your past are causing your current blockage. He or she can help you figure out what needs to be cleared in order for you to move through a particular rough spot in your life.
If you follow these instructions, you will feel a hundred times better when you finish tapping, and you will also find that whatever issue you tapped on will be diminished in the months and years to come.
